Vet Not Yet

Kamikaze didn't end up going to the vet today. He still doesn't seem right, but he's more mobile. I think he may have landed funny jumping off the bed when I came home last night. I'm keeping an eye on him, and am having someone call tomorrow to check out the new "animal hospital" here in town that opened fairly recently. Sometimes places here who call themselves such aren't much more than glorified grooming salons. Otherwise I'm going to have to take Kamikaze downtown in a taxi.

Meanwhile, he's still eating and drinking and getting to the litter on his own. He's not complaining - even when I gently squish him all over to see if I can tell which area is bothering him. I'm hoping it's just something that time and rest will heal.

I don't have a lot of faith in vets here, to be honest. Especially when it comes to cats. But if Kamikaze doesn't continue to improve, I'll take him in. Actually, going to the vet traumatizes the both of us. He gets so upset he pees all over me and clings to me like he's trying to osmosisize himself into me. He's normally a quiet cat, but at the vet he YOWLS, and it's a terrifying sound. The longer we're there, the more upset both of us get.

I'll let you know, kind people, how it goes.

I had a cat like that when it was time to go to the vet. I pray that nothing is serious. I love that BIG guy.

I adopted a stray kitten when I was in Korea and took him to be neutered. A couple of hours later I got a call from the very apologetic vet saying that he was sorry but that he had tried to spay her. And this from a guy that claimed to have graduated from SNU. Anyhow, the cat pulled through and the op and a hell of a lot of subsequent shots and treatments were free....but it still beggars belief.

Our cat, Mozart, got his teste-balls removed on the same day he had his eye removed (it had been severely damaged in a catfight). Our Chewbacca-in-miniature was about a year-and-a-half old at the time, and the doc told us that, despite the excision of the bojangles, his woman-hunting habits were already ingrained.

Luckily, our dog Velcro kept the cat in check by raping him almost nightly in that weird, dry-humping way dogs have. Velcro would hump anything: my dad and I watched him make sweet love to a crumpled-up throw rug in our back yard once.

Thank you, Bonnie! I hope he gets better quickly. See you in the next WCB.
Owl - as if! I can't say this shocks me though. Do youi still have that cat?
Kevin - right on, you just made me make some great big HA's in the staffroom!

Yes, I've had cats that get very upset if I take them to the vet. It's an ordeal. Upsie has limped occasionally when she hurt her legs jumping down onto the hard ground. So, it could be that. Fingers crossed! :)
