We get this stuff here in Japan too, I recently learned. I live in Sendai on the East Coast of Honshu. I've lived here on and off(mostly on) since 1987 and I never realized it was sand from the Gobi desert. I thought it was just the usual cedar pollen. But not according to my wife and the weather casters.
